Green & Alternative Fuel Buses
California is the leading state for Clean Fuel buses. BusWest offers a selection of buses that are environmentally friendly and have can come in a variety alt fuel choices. Typically buses come from the factory as diesel or gas, with the exception of transit buses, which are more commonly found to be using CNG fuel. We sell clean buses that use LNG fuel, CNG Fuel, Propane Gas Buses and Hybrid Electric buses.
Propane School Buses
Propane-powered vehicles are popular
around the world. In fact, there are more
than 15 million in use. In the United States,
we have an abundant supply of propane.
Ninety percent of the propane America
uses is produced domestically, reducing
our dependence on foreign oil.
Propane is also a great financial decision.
Your propane vehicles are eligible for
incredible tax credits. A 50¢ per gallon tax
credit helps you save at the
pump on a fuel
that is already economical.

CNG School Buses (compressed natural gas)
More than likely you've encounted a CNG bus and didn't even realise it. Local cites tend to use CNG buses as their transit public transport buses. They provide a clean and emission free bus, that helps keep California air smog free.
City buses meet stringent state and federal requirements for low pollution buses, both environmentally and safety standards are exceeded. CNG fuel is readily available throughout California for a CNG bus.

LNG School Buses (liquified natual gas)
These buses are normally smaller capacity buses, used for regular shuttle runs within a small area of operation. LNG is a growing market, and more and more fuelling stations are opening up, but in the mean time, LNG buses are restricted to running near their fueling stations. LNG is a cheap alternative and has some benefits over CNG.

Hybrid / Electric School Buses
Like the hybrid cars, Hybrid-Electric buses run on a combination of battery power and clean gasoline engines. The braking mechanism will typically recharge the buses electrical component, and allows the bus to travel greater distances using the near quiet operation of an electric engine and fuel source.

Most of our buses can be outfitted or converted to use a clean fuel source, thus reducing our demand on foreign oil, making BusWest buses, which are made in America, the best choice when deciding where to buy your bus.
SCR Tech. Road Tested. Industry Approved.
SCR is the mainstream technology that 90% of all North American on-highway engine and vehicle manufacturers chose to meet 2010 emissions standards: Daimler Trucks, Cummins Inc., Detroit Diesel, GM, Isuzu, Volvo, Paccar, Hino and Mack. It's proven.
Since 1978, many different exhaust systems in Europe have incorporated SCR technology. It has emerged as the best EPA 2010 solution, based on environmental advantages and payback. SCR is proven to reach the EPA 2010 NOx requirement of 0.2g/bhp-hr. Add to that the reliable engine architecture you know and trust. SCR represents proven, road-tested technology with significant fuel economy advantages of 5-9% over In-cylinder EGR. Cummins testing confirmed it. The testing also concluded that In-cylinder EGR reduces engine life by 20-25%.
A 9% increase in fuel efficiency saves $295.00 per bus, per year.

Retrofitting Buses
Our parts and service departments at BusWest and all Velocity Vehicle Group locations have the capacity to retrofit older buses in your fleet. (some may be required to do so to remain street worthy, according to California Air Resources Board C.A.R.B.)
We sell retrofits, and we install them too. We have moble trucks that can come to your facility to retrofit, and our technicans are the most skilled in the business...when we finish, the retrofit looks like its part of the bus, not just tacked on. Contact our service department for more information, or visit our green website. www.cleanandgreenvehicles.com
